has many flavors and layers. Imagine a hell created by man and given shape by the
machines man created. Ratchet that image up to include a war, embarked upon because machines are strong, resources finite, and man the bug to be stomped on.
Add to this scenario the equivalent of an
empath, but a special one of a kind, as far as anyone knows, empath...one who can reach inside the steel, wires and semiconductors of machine and destroy it from the inside out.
Man feeding on the power bestowed or usurped under the veil of war will demand much of such a secret advantage. He'll wave his flag of duty to Country, taking advantage of the death and pain war spreads like a stain upon the soul, and care nothing for the carnage of his climb up the ladder of power and dominance.
This story is an affirmation of the single-minded selfishness of those maneuvering the masses through
the mangled blood and body count of war. Sacrifices have to be made by military and civilians alike.
At All Costs by
Heather Kuehl, is a short read, a powerful read, and I hope the first in a long line of Samantha, Rodney, and Ioan reads.
Well done Heather.
FIVE GLORIOUS STARS.
