A FORK IN THE ROAD by James Hartley
Fantasy and magic come vividly alive when fashioned by the nimble brain of
James Hartley, a multi-published author of books of
life after death, and other beyond the norm themes.
Here, in his latest, A FORK IN THE ROAD, he gives us a unique redesigning on a theme that reminded me a bit of the movie
Brigadoon, with a dash of
Oz, a sprinkling of Alice's
Wonderland tossed in for good measure, and if you keep your eyes open, you might even catch a glimpse of
Never Never land too.
How many of us can't wait to grow up, only to come to the conclusion adulthood isn't all it's cracked up to be? I know I did...but, once we cross that threshold between youth and maturity, there is no going back...unless...you have a James Hartley writing magical books that CAN take us back to the innocence of our days as children...at least for a little while.
James Hartley's A FORK IN THE ROAD takes us to the very edges of a place much like the
Brigadoon Gene Kelly finds and must relocate when he realizes his love is stronger than the ever flowing
sands of time.
Mr. Hartley gives us a love tale that needs to
bridge the distance between fantasy, where the one he loves now exists, and the "real" world the rest of us walk around in.
A FORK IN THE ROAD
Five stars for taking me to a place I fell in love with the first time I saw Brigadoon, and reminding me that magic is all around us. We just need to open to it. Well done Mr. Hartley.
