Yep, I'm a child of the REAL TV era...not REALITY TV.
Back then REAL TV had a show called The Twilight Zone hosted by a somber, monotoned, almost walking cadaver-type guy by the name of
Rod Serling who showed normal people going about their normal, mundane day-to-day existence suddenly finding themselves dropped into or awakening in
(drumroll please) another dimension.
Ms. Goode in her breakout Muse It Up Release WITCH'S PAWN, has given us that and a whole lot more.
The book's title had me guessing I would find a powerful witch caught between the greedy clutches of two avaricious monarchs bent on possessing her talents, thereby having dominion over the world.
I was wrong!
The scenario painted by Ms. Goode's concise, purposeful story telling moves our intrepid couple Calla Kendrick, widow of her recently deceased Senator husband and precious five year old son, and Rock Moynahan, the LVPD detective investigating what he knows in his gut was no accident, deeper into the murky waters of magic grown darker and more terrifying by the moment.
WITCH'S PAWN...tightly crafted, well spaced to the bone scary...
deserves every one of the
FIVE STARS I am awarding it.
FANTASTIC JOB MS. GOODE.
