THE BLUE OF HER HAIR, THE GOLD OF HER EYES by John B. Rosenman gets LADYBUGGED
Such an intriguing title
John B. Rosenman gives us with THE BLUE OF HER HAIR, THE GOLD OF HER EYES. Strangely the title makes no logical sense until you've reached the very end...Then, like a light-bulb going off over a cartoon character's head when an idea fills the brain pops, finally you understand.
In a world where those with diseases like leprosy AIDS, the plague, and cancer have in the past been treated like aliens to be feared and isolated by the "normal", "healthy" people, this story is almost too revealing and too close to the true human behaviors to not send a shiver or ten down one's spine while reading it.
What do you do if through no fault of your own, you contract the latest epidemic terror? How do you handle the shunning, the new rules, the alone-ness? What do you do when a benevolent member of the medical profession recommends suicide, an action, she assures you, is the course EVERYONE takes? Do you follow the masses...or not?
THE BLUE OF HER HAIR, THE GOLD OF HER EYES...is one of the best Sci-Fi stories I have ever read.
FIVE STARS for this powerful, thought provoking short story.
